An Exciting Look Ahead with Unshattered
Marie Bardell, account executive - unshattered
My year working at North Road has been an incredible experience – from working alongside my peers to help two amazing non-profit organizations, it has taught me more than I could have imagined. Joining as a senior, I was looking to expand my education outside of the classroom and add something to my résumé. North Road Communications boasts a leadership experience unlike any other, allowing students to work in an integrated marketing communications firm with local clients.
After working with Unshattered during my Campaign Management course in the fall, I fell in love with the organization and its mission: ending relapse by providing pathways toward economic stability and sustained sobriety. Unshattered employs women in recovery, with a business model that creates a second chance for those who need it most. When they applied to become a client, I hoped to be the Account Executive and again work closely with the organization’s Founder, Kelly Lyndgaard. I was given the position, and our semester of working with the Unshattered team began!
My teammates, Christina Baviello, Sarah Ingalsbe, and Alexandra Theroux, and I have started the semester in full swing. As a quickly expanding non-profit, Unshattered has tasked us with creating various online templates for their newsletters, emails, and social media posts. Our classroom educations have assisted us in creating an electronic press kit (EPK), which contains press release, media alert, and pitch templates, as well as a biography for Kelly and a few fact sheets. The EPK we are currently working on will be Unshattered’s first, and will assist the organization by allowing full-time staff members to easily share the content to media outlets and other interested parties. We have also been asked to create a LinkedIn page for the organization, to increase exposure for Unshattered on a professional social media network. Amongst other projects, this semester our largest project will be assisting in planning a fundraiser for the grand opening of Unshattered’s new building in Fishkill.
We are incredibly excited to work with Unshattered this semester, and cannot wait to share what we create!
