My NRC Experience: Steppin' Out Radio

Piper Bailey, Account Executive

My name is Piper Bailey, and I am the Account Executive for Steppin' Out Radio! I am a senior majoring in Communications with concentrations in Public Relations and Advertising.

I have been in North Road Communications since the Fall of my Sophomore Year, and I am proud to say that over my six semesters in this organization, I have worked with Steppin' Out the entire time! This is my first semester as an Account Executive, and I love every second! Throwback to freshman year, I was looking for ways to get involved and find work experience early in my college career to seek out internships actively. I found out about NRC from my RA, one of the firm directors, and she had nothing but amazing things to say!

I have loved every second of working with Steppin' Out Radio as both an AE and an Account Representative. Working with a nonprofit that is passionate about addiction recovery has been eye-opening on so many levels. To be more aware of the suffering that people are going through, often in silence, has proven to be a worthy motivation for me and my fellow account representatives on this team to accomplish whatever we could to help the troops and individuals reached through this platform.

We have created a flourishing Instagram account to allow Steppin' Out Radio to get in touch with a younger, different demographic. There are so many podcasts and mental health resources out there nowadays, and it's been wonderful to connect Steppin' Out with all of these resources. Another win of my time working with Steppin' Out was hosting an event in partnership with NAMI and Marist College Counseling Services. It was open to the community and Marist College students, and it was a great success. Our client is still raving about the event, and we're in the process of seeing if we can come up with a virtual format to recreate it!

Being a part of North Road and being afforded this opportunity to work with such a unique client has been both resumé boosting and also rewarding. Given everything that has transpired in the past year, it's been overwhelming the relevancy of our client's purpose. I am so grateful to have gotten to work alongside such fantastic fellow Marist students, as well as with this client. It's been wonderful to see my classmates thrive working alongside me at Steppin' Out and cheer them on with their respective teams. I am excited to spend the last couple of months of my Marist career working with Steppin' Out and laying the groundwork for continued positive change caused by the NRC and Steppin' Out partnership.
