My NRC Experience: FWVGA

Jennamichelle Merolla, Account Executive

Hi, my name is Jennamichelle Merolla, I am a sophomore at Marist, and am the Account Executive for FWVGA at North Road Communications. This is my first semester working with North Road, and my first time taking on the role of AE. I am currently studying Public Relations and Advertising, and am pursuing my Integrated Marketing Communication Degree at Marist. I first heard of NRC through Janine Pultorak, our Creative Director, and was inspired to apply by how highly she spoke of the organization and all the pillars NRC stands for as a whole.

Being a part of NRC has given me so many opportunities to be a community leader, especially taking on the position of AE for our client FWVGA. In this position, I have learned how to conduct myself with the client, while also appealing to the needs that they have for their company. I have also been able to work beside my fantastic Account Coordinators, Shannon and Lexi, that have only been supporting in my role as AE for FWVGA from the start. Together we have worked to comprise a new and improved website for FWVGA, and I could not be more proud of the work we have completed so far, especially this being the first time working with web design.

Riley, our website design specialist at North Road, has been nothing but helpful, taking the time to walk me through the steps on how to navigate the design and composition of the website we are creating. North Road truly feels like a family and has given me the ability to grow and educate myself on what marketing is truly about. Paisley and Allie have welcomed me with open arms, and have only taught me how to be a good Account Executive. Without North Road, I would not have been able to learn how to deal with crisis management, have real client relations, and work collaboratively with such a talented group of individuals.

NRC is engaging, motivating, and pushes me to be a better student both inside and outside of the firm. I am beyond appreciative of everything that I have been able to learn while being a part of North Road, as everyone has always pushed me to be the best version of myself. I have learned the importance of patience when dealing with clients and important life management skills, which has only allowed me to take steps to become a great AE. I have established exceptional bonds with the NRC community, and beautiful friendships I know will be forthcoming.

Having Professor Greenan as a mentor at NRC has been the icing on the cake for this entire experience. She has guided me in the best directions with my FWVGA client and has been nothing but supportive, giving amazing suggestions to implement interactive videos for the FWVGA website, and stimulating advice when I was first beginning the role. She has always been there to support me in all of my endeavors, both inside and outside of NRC, and I have been able to apply all the skills she has taught me with our client at FWVGA.

Being an AE at North Road has helped me to land my first internship as a Digital Marketing Intern over at Consumer Reports, and has only allowed me to continue my growth and development to take on a role like this one. I am beyond grateful for all the opportunities North Road has opened me up to, and am looking forward to taking on future endeavors.
