My NRC Experience: Higher than 7

Kayla Dixon, Account Executive

My name is Kayla Dixon, and I have the privilege of being the Account Executive for Higher Than 7. I am a senior with a major in Communications and a dual concentration in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Business. I have been a part of NRC for five semesters and before I was an AE, I was a member of the videography and the pitching team.

I am so thankful that I found NRC. I have always had a love for videography, especially in my high school career. With my course work being more writing and strategy-oriented, NRC was my creative outlet to maintain my love for video editing and filming. A memorable moment on the videography team was going to the Unshattered store and filming a commercial. They gave us complete creative direction, and I felt like I was in my element. We filmed B-roll, testimonials, and how an Unshattered bag is made. After the shoot, I felt so fulfilled and happy to help a company that advocates for an amazing cause. A memorable moment from working with Higher Than 7 is meeting everyone for the first time and discussing the possibilities to help our client grow. Speaking with Anis and Shanice was always a pleasure. The brand is so multifaceted. They have a passion for recognizing the creative art people produce. You cannot help but want to do the same. The business is doing great things and expanding its public outreach and opportunities every day!

NRC has taught me a plethora of lessons. The experiences I’ve had in the firm have helped me land two internship opportunities with Ketchum and VaynerMedia. I have learned to keep up with deadlines, work both within a team and independently, communicate properly, and strengthen my writing skills. Additionally, I have met so many great people over the past few years. This firm opens doors; it will give you as much as you put into it! I must thank North Road Communications for expanding my professional development. NRC will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to bringing these skills with me out into the workforce.
